Griffin Silk Bead Cord & Silk Threads

Silk threads or silk bead cords have been used for stringing pearls for centuries. Made from twisted strands of silk they are noted for their natural drape, allowing necklaces to flow across the contours of a neckline. So, if your design focuses on pearls, using a 100% silk thread is a great option, with Griffin silk beading cords being the popular choice for traditional knot tying between pearls, and for designs requiring visible cord.

Griffin silk threads come with a twisted stainless steel needle attached to make stringing quick and easy. Being 100% pure silk this thread has good tensile strength, does not need doubling up and has little stretch making for easy stringing and knotting. The one downside to silk thread is that it degrades over time meaning jewellery pieces will need re-stringing over their lifetime. Alternatively try one of our ready to wear silk cord choker necklaces.
