Bugle Beads For Jewellery Making & Beadwork
Slinky narrow tubes of cut glass in a broad range of colours. Originally bugle beads were created from a single length of glass with a bubble within. The piece of glass was held by two tong bearing glassmakers who then pulled in separate directions away from each other to stretch the glass into a thin and very long tube. The tube was then snipped into short sections. The process is automated today – by four principle manufacturers Matsuno, Miyuki, Preciosa and Toho – but the workflow remains the same. Before you buy bugle beads you can read more about this manufacturing process, bugle bead finishes, bugle bead shapes and bugle bead sizes, as well as the the history of bugle beads in our guides to Bugle Beads and Seed Beads
We stock a core range of Preciosa Czech glass bugle beads for use in your beading and jewellery making designs. These loose bugle beads are available in a variety of colours and finishes by weight, in handy multiples of 10 grams.
In addition to these contemporary bugle beads BigBeadLittleBead also has a good selection of Vintage Bugle Beads including twisted bugle beads and Japanese bugle beads.
