Welcome from Your Online Bead Shop
Born from a love for the pretty and the sparkly!
BigBeadLittleBead is a family run business, owned and managed by Anna Weller . . . ably supported by her husband Toby. The business was set-up in October 2009 in the small market town of Hitchin, Hertfordshire some thirty five miles to the north of London.

Grown out of Anna’s desire to create a business that would provide her with a challenge, build on her skills in costume and theatre design, whilst also allowing her time to focus on her then two-year-old son Ellis . . . Big Bead Little Bead was born. Ellis is now four years old and both he and the bead company are flourishing!
We are based solely online, which given the size and tactile nature of beads might seem a disadvantage, but conscious of this from the start we have worked hard to make our bead site a well-presented, easy to use, and a visually welcoming bead shop window. Anna was equally keen to focus on providing the same friendly informative service that you would expect from a walk in bead shop, and so to this end before we took the first step forward we agreed everything from the clean and clear site design, to the presentation of our beading guides, information and glossaries, even going as far as choosing the ribbon and paper we wanted to use to package your bead purchases!
Admittedly, only we get the pleasure of actually handling our beads ahead of your order, but our primary aim is to convey as simply and accurately as possible the beads and components that you will receive. Having had a successful career working in the photographic world Anna has used this visually rich experience to ensure that our imagery, descriptions, and keywords fully complement the beads and components that we are showcasing for you our customers. Keen to offer artist made beads and vintage beads from the outset we were conscious that we needed to ensure that you could see the actual condition of the items prior to your purchase and that this image was backed up by an honest appraisal of each piece via our product descriptions. The aim being to ensure that what you see through our bead store window is exactly what you receive when you eagerly unwrap your parcel. We know we will have succeeded if you still feel that heart pleasing ooh factor!
We source our beads from around the world, and are always in search of new and exciting additions to our wares, particularly if that search helps to fuel our own love for both vintage beads and unique handmade beads straight from the workshops of independent bead makers. As we continue to extend our stock we are more than happy to source beading items on your behalf, or indeed to discuss how you might become one of our talented beadmakers if you design and make your own beads.
We hope you have found this ‘little bit about us‘ interesting. In turn your feedback is always welcome as we strive to build on your knowledge and ours to make this online bead shop a bigger and better beading resource for your needs.
