1 Vintage Lacquered Ojime Beads 18mm (00669-001)
1 Lacquered Ojime Beads 18mm. These Ojime beads were made in China or Japan specifically for the western market during the Meiji – Taisho era or early 1900s. This makes these beads almost antique.
These beads have a wooden base with layers of different coloured lacquers applied, rather like an everlasting gobstopper. The bullseye patterns are created by cutting facets into the surface of the bead to create concentric multi coloured rings. The hole of these lacquer beads has an internal collar of brass metal at both openings.
